The E39 5-Series is often regarded as one of BMW's finest hours, striking a near-perfect balance between comfort, performance, and technology. While European markets enjoyed a wide range of engines, including efficient diesels and potent V8s, U.S. buyers had a more limited selection. The crown jewel of the lineup, the E39 M5, arrived in North America for the 2000 model year. Unlike previous generations, this M5 featured a V8 engine, bringing it closer in specification to its European counterpart. However, subtle differences remained, such as European models receiving a more advanced dynamic stability control system.
Overview
The E39 M5 is widely regarded as one of the greatest sport sedans ever built. Powered by BMW Motorsport's legendary S62 4.9-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing 394 horsepower and paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, the final-year 2003 model represents the culmination of BMW's iconic super sedan formula. Offering understated styling, exceptional performance, and everyday usability in a package that has become increasingly sought after by collectors.
Finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354) over Black Nappa Heritage leather, this 2003 BMW M5 shows just 14,776 original miles. Produced on February 18, 2003, and delivered on February 25, 2003 for the United States market, this final-year M5 is equipped with numerous desirable factory options including Alcantara headliner, heated power sport seats with memory, rear sunshades, Navigation Professional, Park Distance Control, Xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers, tire pressure monitoring, and the Individual Audio System.
This exceptionally low-mileage M5 has spent its life in the hands of enthusiasts, accumulating just over fourteen thousand miles during more than two decades of ownership while maintaining a clean CARFAX history showing no accidents or damage reported. Originally sold new in Illinois, the car later spent time in New Jersey, Florida, California, Georgia, and New Jersey, receiving consistent maintenance throughout its life.
Enthusiast Auto Group first acquired this M5 in 2012 before selling it to its previous owner in 2025. During the most recent ownership, the car received significant preventative maintenance by respected California BMW specialists. Services included replacement of both valve cover gaskets and associated seals, replacement of the power steering reservoir hose, engine oil service, replacement of the driver's camshaft position sensor O-ring, replacement of differential output shaft seals, replacement of the driveshaft CV joint, cabin air filter replacement, air conditioning evacuation and recharge, and additional sealing work while servicing the front accessory drive.
Prior to delivery, this M5 will undergo Enthusiast Auto Group's comprehensive preservation and inspection process, including a detailed multi-point mechanical inspection, fluid verification, road testing, and completion of any additional maintenance or preservation items identified during our evaluation. The objective remains the same as every EAG offering: preserve originality while ensuring the car is properly prepared for its next enthusiast caretaker.
History
BMW production records confirm this M5 was completed on February 18, 2003, before being delivered to the United States on February 25, 2003. Finished in its timeless combination of Titanium Silver Metallic over Black Nappa Heritage leather, the car remains highly optioned and represents one of the final examples produced during the E39 M5's celebrated production run.
The accompanying CARFAX documents continuous enthusiast ownership, exceptionally low mileage, and a clean history free from reported accidents or damage.
