EAG Impressions
The E60 5-Series marked a dramatic departure in BMW's design language, featuring Chris Bangle's controversial "flame surfacing" aesthetic. While the styling divided opinion, the car's dynamic abilities were universally praised. European markets received a broader range of engines, including efficient diesels, but U.S. buyers still had access to most of the high-performance variants. The E60 M5, with its Formula 1-inspired V10 engine, was nearly identical in both markets, signaling BMW's commitment to delivering a more consistent product globally.
Overview

The E60 M5 remains one of the most ambitious and technically fascinating cars BMW M has ever produced. At its core is the legendary S85 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10, an engine derived from BMW’s Formula 1 program, producing 500 horsepower and revving to an 8,250 rpm redline. Combined with a balanced chassis and unmistakable character, the E60 M5 delivers an experience that continues to stand apart from both its predecessors and successors.
This 2006 BMW M5 is finished in Silver Grey Metallic over Indianapolis Red Merino leather, a striking and classic combination that highlights the car’s understated exterior and vibrant, motorsport-inspired interior. Showing 46,100 miles, this example presents as a well-maintained and highly original car, retaining its factory configuration throughout.
The interior is particularly noteworthy, featuring Indianapolis Red Merino leather paired with Alu Shadow brushed interior trim, creating a clean and purposeful cockpit. Factory options include Active Seat Backrest Width Adjustmentfor both driver and passenger, enhancing comfort and support during spirited driving. A subtle M rear spoiler adds a touch of factory styling without altering the car’s original character.
This M5 is a three-owner car, with the second owner retaining it for approximately 15 years, reflecting long-term enthusiast care. The car is also a repeat visitor at Enthusiast Auto Group, most recently sold by our team in 2024, giving us direct familiarity with its condition, ownership, and maintenance history.
The exterior presents well, with consistent paint and clean lines, while the interior remains in excellent condition with minimal wear consistent with careful ownership. As a stock, unmodified example, this M5 preserves the integrity and driving experience that define the S85 platform.
In preparation for presentation and sale, this M5 will receive Enthusiast Auto Group’s standard intake evaluation and preservation process, a detailed multi-point inspection, verification of fluids, systems, and components, and light recommissioning consistent with EAG’s delivery standards for investment-grade vehicles. All work will be carried out to maintain the car’s originality and ensure mechanical integrity for its next caretaker.
History
Originally delivered in 2006, this Silver Grey M5 has benefitted from long-term enthusiast ownership, including a second owner who cared for the car for over a decade. Having passed through Enthusiast Auto Group previously, most recently in 2024, this example returns with known history, consistent care, and strong overall presentation. Its combination of factory originality, desirable color pairing, and documented ownership make it a compelling example of BMW’s V10-powered M sedan.
