EAG Impressions
Building on the success of the E36, the E46 3-Series refined BMW's compact luxury formula. Its design was evolutionary rather than revolutionary, maintaining the brand's signature styling cues. While European buyers had access to a wide range of diesel and petrol engines, U.S. models were primarily offered with inline-six powerplants. The performance gap between European and U.S. models narrowed significantly with this generation, particularly with the M3. Both markets received the same high-revving 3.2L S54 engine, though European models still enjoyed a slight power advantage due to less restrictive emissions equipment.
Overview
The E46 M3 remains one of BMW M's defining achievements, blending timeless styling with one of the greatest naturally aspirated inline-six engines ever produced. Powered by the legendary S54 3.2-liter inline-six, producing 333 horsepower and paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the E46 M3 continues to set the benchmark for driver engagement while becoming one of the most sought-after modern BMW M cars among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Finished in Carbon Black Metallic (416) over Cinnamon Nappa leather, this 2006 BMW M3 Convertible shows just 43,446 original miles. Produced on December 8, 2005, and delivered to the United States on December 13, 2005, this M3 is equipped with numerous desirable factory options including 19-inch forged M wheels, heated power sport seats with memory, Harman Kardon audio, brushed aluminum Shadow trim, rain-sensing wipers, Xenon headlights, automatic climate control, black fully automatic convertible top, and the desirable Carbon Black/Cinnamon color combination.
This low-mileage M3 has enjoyed enthusiast ownership throughout its life while accumulating fewer than 44,000 miles over two decades. The accompanying CARFAX documents a clean history with no accidents or damage reported, consistent mileage, and regular maintenance throughout its ownership.
Enthusiast Auto Group acquired this M3 in early 2024 before selling it to its previous owner in February 2024. During that ownership, the car saw extremely limited use, with fewer than 700 additional miles added while continuing to receive routine maintenance at an authorized BMW dealer. Prior to offering this M3 once again, it will undergo Enthusiast Auto Group's comprehensive preservation and inspection process, including a detailed multi-point mechanical inspection, fluid verification, road testing, and completion of any maintenance or preservation items identified during our evaluation. Our objective remains the same as every EAG offering: preserve originality while ensuring the car is properly prepared for its next enthusiast caretaker.
History
BMW production records confirm this M3 Convertible was completed on December 8, 2005, before being delivered to the United States on December 13, 2005. Finished in its striking factory combination of Carbon Black Metallic over Cinnamon Nappa leather with a black convertible top, the car is exceptionally well equipped and showcases one of the most desirable specifications available on the final-year E46 M3 Convertible.
The CARFAX reflects long-term enthusiast ownership, remarkably low annual mileage, and a clean history free from reported accidents or damage. The first owner retained the car for more than fifteen years before it passed through a small number of enthusiast owners. Enthusiast Auto Group acquired the car in early 2024 and sold it to its most recent owner in February of that year. Following another period of careful ownership and minimal use, we are pleased to offer this exceptional E46 M3 Convertible once again.
