At EAG, we love to find low-mile, factory fresh examples of BMW M’s best cars. There is something special about getting into a car that is more than 20 years old, and has fewer miles than most original owners put on in their first year of ownership. We can rejuvenate a BMW better than pretty much anyone out there, but a well cared for, exceptionally low mile car just has some extra X-factor that can’t be replicated.
This 2002 BMW E39 M5 is one of those cars, under the care of a single owner until February 2025, the car shows just 13,940 miles at the time of cataloging. Finished in Jet Black over a black extended leather “Sport” interior, the car is positively immaculate and one of the finest examples of what is without a doubt, one of BMW’s best cars. Sold through Thompson BMW East of Doylestown, PA, the car was exclusively serviced at BMW main dealers, and was sold to Virginia in February 2025. As you would expect, the car is in exceptional condition throughout and looks about as you would expect an M5 to look fresh off the showroom floor.
The interior is the sought-after Sport interior, with extended black leather featuring “ostrich” seat centers. Along with the different seat upholstery, the car has aluminum trim throughout the cabin which gives a more modern, timeless look than the wood alternative. As a 2002, this car benefits from the updated 3-spoke steering wheel and wider infotainment screen.
Powering this M5 is BMW’s famed S62 V8. With 4.9-liters of displacement, dual overhead cams with VANOS on the intake and exhaust, as well as individual throttle bodies, the engine was rated from the factory at 394 horsepower and 369 Lb-Ft of torque. This engine is renowned for its flexibility and ability to make power throughout the rev range - just as willing to idle around in traffic as it is winding out to redline on the track. This power is then sent through a 6-speed Getrag manual gearbox to the rear wheels.
