EAG Impressions

The Z3 roadster marked BMW's entry into the modern sports car market, competing directly with the Mazda Miata and Mercedes-Benz SLK. Initially, European markets received a wider range of engines, including a frugal 1.8L four-cylinder. U.S. buyers, however, were offered the more powerful 1.9L four-cylinder from the outset. As the model evolved, both markets gained access to six-cylinder engines, culminating in the high-performance M Roadster and M Coupe variants. These M models featured engines derived from the E36 M3, with European versions benefiting from the more sophisticated S50 engine, while U.S. models used the less powerful S52 unit - a continuation of the performance disparity seen in the E36 M3.

Overview

This 2002 BMW Z3 M Roadster shows 43,227 miles and is finished in Steel Grey Metallic over Black leather. The exterior presents very well overall, with consistent gloss and a clean, cohesive appearance. While the car does not retain entirely factory-original paint throughout, it has been evaluated carefully and presents as a well-kept, properly sorted example. The Carfax report is clean, and from a mechanical standpoint, the car performs exactly as intended, delivering the engaging and analog driving experience that defines the Z3 M platform.

As with all vehicles offered by Enthusiast Auto Group, this Z3 M Roadster has been assessed with a focus on overall condition, drivability, and long-term ownership confidence. We aim to present each car clearly and accurately so prospective owners can evaluate it based on how it looks, drives, and has been cared for, not simply how it appears on paper.

In preparation for presentation and sale, this Z3 M Roadster is undergoing Enthusiast Auto Group’s standard intake evaluation and preservation process, including a detailed multi-point inspection, verification of fluids, systems, and components, and light recommissioning consistent with EAG’s delivery standards. In addition, we are performing the following services to ensure mechanical confidence and turn-key readiness: New Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, Oil service, Coolant flush, Brake fluid flush, Timing chain seal replacement.

These updates address key age-related items and ensure the car performs as intended for its next caretaker.

History

With moderate mileage, a desirable color combination, factory hardtop, and thoughtful mechanical preparation by Enthusiast Auto Group, this Z3 M Roadster represents an excellent example of one of BMW M’s most analog and engaging roadsters. Properly serviced and carefully presented, it offers an increasingly rare opportunity to enjoy a true driver-focused M car from BMW’s golden era.
